The overloading of CNC machines often leads to significant losses in production capacity.
The company has a total of 5 machines and the aim of the project was to analyse the time losses during machine reloading and to make the whole process more efficient. In collaboration with the technologists, we saved approximately 30% of time by using screening methods and introducing the SMED method. This involved eliminating typical waste, transferring internal activities to external ones, simplifying the process/procedure, retrofitting workstations with the necessary tools, etc.
The output was a machinery changeover timetable that clearly describes the individual activities in chronological order with defined needs for adjusters and process equipment.
